In her first term as a State Representative, Sarah Roberts is working hard to create good-paying jobs for Michigan workers and attracting emerging industries such as alternative energy to our communities.
Roberts supported ground-breaking tax credits for the development and manufacturing of advanced batteries for electric cars, helping bring five world-class companies to Michigan that plan to invest a total of $2 billion and create more than 6,600 jobs.
Roberts also voted for a plan that will transform an idle Wixom auto plan into a cutting-edge alternative energy park. The plan will attract $725 million in private investment and create at least 2,500 jobs in the production of large-scale commercial batteries and other alternative energy components.
Before being elected to the House, Roberts served as a Macomb County Commissioner. She is a former community advocate for Clean Water Action and has also served on the Macomb County Water Quality Board and the Blue Ribbon Commission for Lake St. Clair.
As a State Representative, Roberts is continuing her fight to protect Lake St. Clair and Michigan's other natural resources. She has supported efforts that will protect our residents' safety and ensure we can enjoy these resources for years, including:
- Phasing out the use of mercury in numerous products sold in Michigan, such as batteries and novelty items.
- Improving the recycling practices and disposal of toxic substances.
- Requiring all major Michigan water users to report their water withdrawals
Roberts lives in St. Clair Shores. An active member of the community, she volunteers as a local coordinator for Green Michigan and as an Adopt-A-Road organizer, leading a crew that tends to Harper Avenue between 13 Mile and 14 Mile roads.
