Camilleri on Passage of $150M Emergency Coronavirus Funding Package
LANSING, Mich., March 17, 2020 — Following over 12 hours of deliberations, the Michigan House of Representatives approved $125 million in additional emergency coronavirus relief for Michigan residents following unanimous passage in the Senate. This is added to the $25 million approved last week. House Bill 4279 includes $40 million for public health emergency response such as monitoring and testing, $50 million to support hospitals, nursing homes, and other critical healthcare facilities, and $35 million in other response activities. In response, State Rep. Darrin Camilleri (D-Brownstown) issued the following statement:
“Michigan residents need relief right now, and that means taking decisive action,” said Camilleri. “It’s our duty as representatives to continue to tackle the problems facing our families as they arise, and I’m proud to support this important step in providing help to Michiganders as we face this crisis together.
